Pillar of Energy Saving & Renewable Energy Transition ...

Managing Leftover Food & Packaging

As part of its commitment to sustainability, Pizza Hut Cares 8P keeps introducing various innovations in managing food waste and packaging responsibly through the application of circular economy principles. This initiative aims to reduce waste while creating lasting benefits for the environment.

One clear example of this commitment is the collaboration with TUKR to turn used cooking oil into biodiesel. By 2025, 276 Pizza Hut outlets had taken part in this programme, successfully collecting over 60,000 litres of used cooking oil to be converted into more useful alternative energy.

This commitment is also reinforced through the MENYALA Program (Managing Used Cooking Oil), which encourages Pizza Hut Indonesia employees to collect used cooking oil from households as a form of environmental care and adoption of a sustainable lifestyle. In addition, all Pizza Hut Indonesia outlets now use 100% paper straws and bamboo tissues as part of efforts to reduce the use of materials that impact the environment.

This programme aligns with Pizza Hut Peduli 8P's commitment to supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12) through waste management and circular economy practices, as well as Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17) through collaboration with TUKR, employees, and various partners. With the spirit of Pizza Hut Peduli 8P, we are committed to continuously bringing innovation and collaboration in creating more responsible resource management for a more sustainable future.
